Revisit Street + Sidewalk Maintenance Standards
The condition of pavement varies throughout downtown, however many areas require repairs. These inconsistencies can slow down vehicular traffic and get in the way of pedestrians as well. This problem is especially dire when considering ADA accessibility. One way to help improve pavement conditions is to assess their conditions and then use development impact fees to address the issue. Revisiting design guidelines for materials would also help improve the durability and ease of maintenance of downtown’s streets and sidewalks. Additionally, downtown needs to make sure signage is clear and maintained and needs to reassess the need for certain signals.
