Revisit On-Street Parking Policies
Street parking is best used for retail and restaurant customers. Pricing or Time Limiting policies need to be used to prevent employees from taking up the spots for an entire shift, lowering turnover and business traffic. This makes it harder to spend money downtown, and increases congestion. On top of revisiting time and pricing policies, evaluating a need to increase or decrease available street parking in different areas could be used to optimize the balance of space reserved for cars. It is important to balance the importance of on street parking with the goal of promenade style retail focused streets; parklets could be a good option to allow flexible usage of these spaces over time. It might be worth revisiting parking requirements in the city of atlanta.
