Lighting Upgrades
Better lighting in Downtown streets makes them feel more welcoming (for nightlife) and safe (Crime Protection through Environmental Design/ CPTED). Target areas include institutions (schools / hospitals), MARTA stations, and major transit corridors. Lighting on building facades (Uplit buildings was 3rd most popular idea at master plan open house #1). Philadelphia Avenue of the Arts is a good case study, with a 12 building synchronized system. Functional and artistic lighting under underpasses is the final target area.
