Hire a Downtown Arts Coordinator

Funding and creating a full time position to promote the arts scene in Downtown represents an opportunity for CAP to have a direct impact on improving the impact and identity of the galleries etc. downtown. The coordinator could help run art crawls and other events, as well as provide a central source to advertise events and coordinate collaboration between different institutions. They could also work as a liaison between the business community and the art community (ground floor leasing). On the whole I think this is a really important investment to enable a lot of the other heritage, quality of life, and economy goals.

• Better arts resources impact public health positively, esp. In middle and low income areas

  • Lower obesity, child abuse, crime

  • Better school performance

• Could be a CAP related position in charge of implementing many of the other ideas in the master plan

  • Relatively low investment for the number of programs they could run
